Darrin Matthew Peppers is a legally blind author, former owner of an online marketing agency, and the creator of the Caleb & Bastet series.

Born in Washington State and now living in Florida, Darrin’s love for storytelling began early. His mother, an avid reader, was one of his first and most important inspirations. From 2005 to 2016, he regularly shared chapters and early versions of the story that would eventually become Caleb & Bastet. After her passing from cancer, the project was put on the back burner for a time. Though shelved, those early writings and his mother’s unwavering belief in his storytelling remained a quiet driving force.

In 2009, he began writing the series in earnest as a personal passion project. Prior to focusing on fiction, he spent years writing and creating content for major online platforms, becoming a recognized writer in the fields of video games and healthy living. By 2016, he had completed three early versions of the manuscript.

In 2024, severe vision loss forced Darrin to close the successful online marketing business he had spent years building. Rather than abandon the project, he made the difficult decision to scrap the original drafts and completely rebuild the series with a more mature protagonist, a richer mythology, and a much larger long-term vision.

Working primarily through voice-to-text during long meditation hikes in the Florida Glades, Darrin completed Caleb & Bastet: Recognition, the first volume in a planned fifteen-book saga blending hidden history, ancient mythology, spiritual warfare, supernatural adventure, and conspiracy-thriller elements.

Drawing on more than two decades of digital marketing and content creation experience, Darrin has built his entire author platform himself—designing and launching the website, creating promotional graphics and videos, producing cinematic book trailers, and developing the marketing strategy while continuing work on future books.

Darrin has been the sole parent raising his daughter, Gizelle, since 2015. Balancing single fatherhood, writing, and caring for a child with special needs while rebuilding his life after severe vision loss has profoundly shaped both the man he has become and the stories he chooses to tell.

Throughout his life, Darrin has faced significant personal and spiritual challenges that strengthened his faith and deepened his interest in hidden history, mythology, unexplained phenomena, and the unseen aspects of human experience. His lifelong study of these subjects—together with deeply personal experiences that continue to shape his perspective—influences the themes explored throughout the Caleb & Bastet series. For Darrin, these stories are ultimately about resilience, hope, discernment, spiritual warfare, and the fight to protect what matters most.

Although Caleb & Bastet is a work of fiction, many of its mysteries are inspired by decades of research into ancient civilizations, mythology, hidden history, unexplained phenomena, conspiracy theories, and historical mysteries. Readers will discover that many of the people, places, legends, and events woven throughout the series have roots in real-world accounts, folklore, and documented history.

He draws daily strength from nature, prayer, his rescue animals, and an unshakable faith. Every book he writes is dedicated to honoring his mother’s belief in his storytelling and creating a better future for his daughter. Through the Caleb & Bastet series, he hopes to entertain readers while encouraging them to question the world around them, pursue truth with discernment, and never lose hope in the face of adversity.
